Cresol red sodium salt can be used in many common molecular biology reactions in place of other loading dyes. Cresol red does not inhibit Taq polymerase to the same degree as other common loading dyes. The visual transition interval for Cresol red sodium salt for acidic solutions is pH 0.2 (red) to pH 1.8 (yellow), and for basic solutions is pH 7.2 (yellow) to pH 8.8 (red).
