Pararosaniline hydrochloride is the main, pure component of Basic Fuchsin mixtures. It is used in acid-fast staining procedures that use carbol-fusion. It is used in Endo medium, a solution used in bacteriological analysis. It is used as Schiff’s reagent in the Periodic Acid Schiff and Feulgen techniques, staining methods used in pathology and histology. It is also used in Gomori’s aldehyde fuchsin method for hepatitis B surface antigen and pancreatic B cells.
